Looking to buy Nuts online?
Good idea! Our nuts are so full of flavour and nutrition that we consider them to be the ultimate snack or cooking ingredient out there. If you love eating nuts and buy them regularly, you'll know how important it is to source fresh and high-quality nuts instead of aged, poor quality ones. They are just like coffee! Nuts, especially when roasted, need to be packaged and sourced with love and care. Yours and your family's bodies will thank you for finding the best quality nuts that you can (hint: you just did) and consuming them regularly.
Our Nut Market family is obviously very fond of nuts. Our selection is sourced from all over the world, however we try to source Australian Nuts wherever possible. Many of our nuts are actually grown here in Queensland. Just use the 'Australian' filter to your left to see just our selection of Australian nuts!
Nuts are actually so good for you that we recommend keeping the pantry stocked with enough of them (along with seeds) to eat them every day. Studies have even shown that people who eat nuts every day live longer lives than people who don't! Heard enough? Good! We have plenty of varieties for sale.
Types of nuts
To ensure our customers are constantly provided with quality nuts and fast delivery, our warehouse is permanently stocked with our whole range. All types of nuts are a valuable source of nutrition and fibre so by stocking just a couple of bags of nuts at home, you'll be doing your family's health a service.
Our most popular nuts are almonds. Our almonds are 100% Australian and are popular for snacking, in salads and in baking. Almonds will give you a a big dose of protein, monounsaturated fat, and antioxidants. If chewing almonds is a bit laborious, our almond flour is a very popular alternative to yeast-based flour. Almond flour is widely used in gluten-free or ketogenic baking for its delicious flavour and low carb constitution.
If you prefer to buy nuts that are creamier, cashews are packed with fibre, minerals and protein. Or you might like a Queensland classic! Our peanuts are grown here in QLD in Kingaroy and are famous in the region for their size, flavour and quality. While peanuts are common, they still pack a lot of good protein per serving. They are also great sources of antioxidants and B vitamins.
One type of nut you'll want to buy and keep at home is the Brazil nut. They are famous for their selenium content, a mineral that is increasingly rare in our soils yet essential for good health. Selenium helps to protect against heart-related diseases, cancer, and oxidative stress. For some people, the most delicious types of nuts are pistachios, hands down. They have an earthy and sweet nut flavour, with a creamy quality that, when combined with salt, is quite irresistible. Pistachio nuts are great to snack on and if still in their shell, can help with weight control. They both regulate speed of consumption and satiate appetites quickly.
In Australia, pecans aren't as popular as they are in other countries however you'll still find people who love some pecan pie. While pecan pie is a little sweet, pecans themselves are fabulous for your health. Like most nuts, their levels of good fats can help to lower your cholesterol. Similarly under-appreciated in Australia, pine nuts are a great source of fibre and are delicious in their own right! You can toast them or add them raw to salads and pastas.
Walnuts are another type of nut that offer amazing benefits. In particular they have great balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. A lot of people source their omega-3 from high-quality fish oil, however this is often an expensive way to go. Walnuts can be a great option if you want a light snack that will keep your levels high to balance the high-levels of omega-6 in our western diets.
Finally, if you simply can’t decide on one type of nut, we have some suggestions for you. For snacking, buy yourself some mixed nuts or a few nut butters. Honestly, it's smart to keep some of both on hand, simply for snacking. Rather than reaching for carb-based snacks with low nutritional value and low satiety, buy some nuts or a nut butter to keep snacking from getting out of control! There's also LSA which is a fabulous addition to your diet. It is full of goodness and fibre.
Extremely. In fact, because we source only fresh nuts of the highest available quality, nutrient levels are at an all-time high in the nuts you can buy from The Nut Market. Our nuts are packed with nutrients including magnesium, vitamin E, selenium, B6, niacin, folate, zinc, iron, calcium, phosphorus, potassium (and more…)
Nuts are indeed high in fat BUT the fat they contain is the healthy kind. Almost all of the fat you'll find in nuts is monounsaturated fat. You'll also get high amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fat.
While all nuts have nutritional benefits, some definitely outperform the others.
Almonds
Almonds are not only delicious, they are literally lifesavers to keep in your pantry. Almonds have been shown to reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol levels which are particularly harmful to healthy heart functioning. Almonds combined with a low-calorie diet may also aid weight loss and lower blood pressure in people who are overweight. They also keep blood sugar levels under control when combined with high-carbohydrate foods. Finally, they may be beneficial to your gut bacteria, stimulating the growth of new, beneficial bacteria.
Pistachio Nuts
Pistachio nuts are comparable to almonds in the benefits they offer. They have an added impact on other heart-related conditions including weight, blood pressure and oxidative state. Include some pistachios for personal snacking, cooking or entertaining.
Walnuts
Walnuts have a similar positive effect on heart health. There are also studies suggesting that walnuts have an added benefit of improving cognitive function. They contain many nutrients but in particular have very high levels of the omega-3 fat ALA which is responsible for all of the vascular improvements.
Macadamia Nuts
Maccas not only taste fabulous but they are great for you too. In fact, while containing a broad range of nutrients they are best known for their high levels of monounsaturated fat. Eating macadamia nuts regularly has been demonstrated to produce similar effects to adopting a heart-healthy diet. They also help to reduce inflammation. (Plus ours are Aussie!)…
Bottom line: buy some Macadamia nuts!
If the kids don't like eating nuts as a snack, one trick we use at home is to keep a variety of nut butters on hand. Nut butter is a fabulous way to increase your intake of nuts without getting a tired jaw from all the chewing! Most people have a jar of supermarket peanut butter at home but don't realize the world of flavours available by using other nuts. You can buy our nut butter online and then just spread them on toast, use them as a dip or even eat them from a spoon. We even have substitutes for popular favourites like Hazelnut/chocolate (healthy Nutella anyone??).
