Gummi Bears
Whether you call them "gummy" or "gummi," gummy bear are one of the world’s most popular confections! The Nut Market Gummi Bears are small, fruit gum candies, similar to a jelly baby. This sweet little lolly is shaped into the form of a tiny bear making it an instant favourite with both children and the young at heart. Our gummy bears are sold in the famous five flavours: strawberry; orange; lime; grape; and lemon.
The gummy bear originated in Germany. Gum arabic was the original base ingredient used to produce the gummy bears, hence the name gum or gummy. Hans Riegel, Sr., a confectioner from Bonn, started the Haribo company in 1920. In 1922, inspired by the trained bears seen at street festivities and markets in Europe through to the 19th century, he invented the Dancing Bear, a small, affordable, fruit-flavored gum candy treat for children and adults alike.
The success of the Dancing Bear's successor would later become Haribo's world-famous Gold-Bears candy product in 1967. And today at The Nut Market we still use the best quality, world-famous Gummy Bears.

Gummi Bears make for perfect party favours, afternoon treats or weekend sweets for the whole family to enjoy. Their bright colours and soft, chewy texture make them a wonderful choice for decorating cakes, cup-cakes or other desserts like gummy bear bark! Throw some bright sprinkles atop your white chocolate creation and get your bears and tastebuds dancing.
For a fantastic summer poolside treat, just freeze those bear babies in a popsicle mold ¾ of the way full with Sprite. If you want to go the more adult-friendly route, use sparkling wine and lemonade instead of Sprite. Make homemade "Muddy Bears" by dipping gummy bears in melted chocolate and placing them into the freezer to set. Even better, add the end result to some popcorn for a salty and sublime treat.
If you want to take your Nut Market Gummy Bears to a more adult level why not go boozy with "Rummy Bears." Get your gummies a little drunky by emptying the bag into a bowl, covering them in a liquor of your choice, and letting them infuse for 3 or 4 days. Be forewarned, for these buzzed bears are strong!
